A series of epitaxial Co/Cu(111) superlattices has been grown on Al2O3 (112
0) substrates with a Nb(110) buffer layer by molecular-beam epitaxy. By app
lying profile analysis technique it was possible to determine: (1) the crys
tallite size, (2) the microstrains for Co and Cu of the multilayers and (3)
the percentage of the hexagonal and face centred cubic structures in the C
o layers. Ferromagnetic resonance (FMR) measurements at x-band frequencies
are used to study in-plane magnetic properties of the investigated superlat
tices. A good relationship between the microstructural and the in-plane mag
netic properties were obtained.
