Abstract
The authors describe their experience with art innovative model of research training programs, including the Master of Science in Psychiatry Program. The Master of Science in Psychiatry program provides research trainees-medi cal students, residents, fellows, and possibly junior faculty-with an oppor tunity to enroll in research-oriented classes and seminars, to realize thei r own research project under the guidance of research mentors, and finalize if with a thesis defense. The experience with this approach has been succe ssful so far: The authors suggest that their programs may provide a templat e for other academic departments and that this could be one of the models f or preparation of the next generation of psychiatric researchers.
