The purpose of this research is to achieve a more comprehensive understandi
ng of load distribution in reinforced concrete structures during constructi
on. Efforts have been made to measure and analyze loads, material propertie
s, internal forces in shores and slabs, and displacements of structural mem
bers during the construction of a reinforced concrete slab-and-beam structu
re. Some phenomena and results, which have not been reported previously wer
e observed. Through the process and analysis of the measured data, the char
acteristics of load transmission (distribution) in the time-dependent struc
ture have been obtained. It has been found that the newly cast slab will gr
adually carry some of its own weight during its curing process. This then c
auses the construction loads to redistribute between the slab and other par
ts of the time-dependent structure.
