F. Giubilei et al., 4-YEAR FOLLOW-UP OF A CASE OF ACUTE MULTIPLE-SCLEROSIS OF THE MARBURGTYPE, Italian journal of neurological sciences, 18(3), 1997, pp. 163-166
We describe the clinical course, treatment and magnetic resonance find
ings during a four-year follow-up of a patient with acute multiple scl
erosis of the Marburg type, treated with steroid and mannitol therapy,
who survive the first bout. Although the course of the disease was cl
inically indistinguishable from relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis
, our case was characterized by peculiar features. These included the
need for protracted steroid therapy and the remarkable tendency of MRI
lesions to resolve completely.
