Abstract
Kramers turnover theory is solved for a particle in a symmetric triple well potential for temperatures above the crossover temperature between tunneli ng and activated barrier crossing. Comparison with the turnover theory for a double well potential shows that the presence of the intermediate well al ways leads to a decrease of the reaction rate. At most though, the rate is a factor of two smaller than in the case of a double well potential.
