Abstract
Metallic multilayers permit uniquely sensitive measurements of chemica l interdiffusion. Recent measurements have characterized the accuracy of the technique and have demonstrated its extension to the measuremen t of the chemical and self diffusivities of individual species. Applic ations to measurements at lower temperatures and in metastable materia ls promise advances in the study of structural changes brought about b y diffusion.
