CATALYTIC-HYDROGENATION OF THIOLENE 1,1-D IOXIDES TO THIOLANE 1,1-DIOXIDES - SOME PROBLEMS OF SULFUR-RESISTANCE OF HYDROGENATION CATALYSTS

The current state of studies on the catalytic liquid-phase hydrogenati on of 2- and 3-thialene 1,1-dioxides to thiolane 1,1-dioxide is analys ed. The data on the activity and selectivity of Group VIII metals, the ir complexes and sulfides both in massive and in supported slates and the conditions and mechanisms of hydrogenation are considered. The rea sons for deactivation of various catalysts during the synthesis of thi olane 1,1-dioxide and the methods for increasing their sulfur resistan ce are described, Some general problems of sulfur-resistance of hydrog enation catalysts are considered.
