Abstract
The thermodynamic properties of poly(3-methyl-1-butene) (heat capacity , the thermodynamic parameters of melting, glass transition, and glass y state, and the energy of the polymer combustion) were studied by cal orimetric measurements. On the basis of the experimental values and th e published data, the thermodynamic functions of the polymer in the cr ystalline, glassy, rubberlike, and liquid states, the enthalpies of co mbustion, and the thermochemical parameters of PMB formation at T = 29 8.15 K and p = 101.325 kPa were calculated. The enthalpy, entropy, and the Gibbs free energy for the polymerization of 3-methyl-1-butene wer e calculated in the temperature range 0-640 K, and the upper critical temperature of polymerization was estimated.
