Abstract
Despite rapid progress in improving mass-storage density and digital commun ication system performance, compression of data is still an important consi deration in overcoming data-storage and transmission-bandwidth limitations in research and engineering applications. in this paper a novel, simple and effective approach for lossless compression of broadband residue sequences is presented. This coding scheme can achieve an efficiency of 95%. A decom position algorithm for finding the optimal coding parameters is described. The algorithm decomposes a multi-variable optimization problem into a serie s of single-variable optimizations. Because of me simplicity of the coding scheme the data compression algorithms can be implemented using low-level a ssembly language to meet the requirements of real-rime applications.
