Abstract
Microreactors have an extremely large volume-to-surface ratio and the mass transfer path is minimal. That is why they provide information that would n ot be available otherwise. This kind of information can be crucial for the choice and the dimensions of a technical reactor. By two examples it is dem onstrated that process development periods can be reduced essentially and t hat potentials for process improvement can be found. (C) 2001 Elsevier Scie nce Ltd.
