COMPTES RENDUS DE L ACADEMIE DES SCIENCES SERIE II FASCICULE A-SCIENCES DELA TERRE ET DES PLANETES
At the base of the so-called PII-III series (Late Proterozoic) in the Moroc
can western Anti-Atlas, many lenticular quartzitic bodies are embedded with
in conglomeratic layers. Field observations presented here suggest that the
PII-III is an olistostrome that is either conformably or disconformably co
vered by the Pill Series. On the other hand, the Hercynian deformation is t
he only compression to have affected the PII-III and Pill. The emplacement
of the chaotic 'PII-III' series registered the onset of the Late Proterozoi
c rifting in the Anti-Atlas. (C) 2001 Academie des sciences / Editions scie
