The paper is devoted to theoretical investigations on the energy loss of ch
arged particles in fully ionized, nonideal plasmas. Especially, the limitin
g behaviour for very low and high beam particle velocities is investigated.
To give a consistent description for both limits, a combined model based o
n quantum kinetic theory is applied. For low beam velocities, a comparison
with simulation data is given. The high beam velocity behaviour of our mode
l is compared with the "standard model" of the stopping power given by the
Bethe-formula and two correction terms, the Bloch term and a Z(b)(3)-correc
tion (Barkas effect).
