The results of biological control explorations for Aphthona spp. on leafy s
purge in Russia are reported. One new species is described based on adults
and larvae: Aphthona russica, sp. nov. (Russia: Taman' Peninsula). Distribu
tions and host plants of 10 other Aphthona species are recorded. Aphthona g
racilis is reported from Siberia for the first time feeding on Euphorbia vi
rgata, and Euphorbia squamosa is recorded as a host plant of A. testaceicor
nis for the first time.
