Abstract
The TIBAL-promoted Claisen rearrangement of carbohydrates, developed in our group, has been applied to vinyl glycosides derived from D-glucose to affo rd highly functionalized cyclooctene derivatives in a stereospecific manner . Subsequent manipulation of these compounds gave access to a new family of carbasugars: the glucose and idose cyclo-octanic mimetics.
