A finite element implementation of the unified elastic-viscoplastic theory
of Bodner for the analysis of metal matrix composites is presented in this
paper. An original model of circular fibres embedded in a square array of m
atrix material has been chosen for the present investigation. The results o
f the present analysis for two Aluminium matrix composites have been compar
ed with the results of Aboudi's continuum theory and the Halpin-Tsai equati
