The dielectronic recombination process from Li-like to Be-like ions is
studied. The radiative transition probability (A(r)) and autoionizati
on rate (A(a)) from the doubly excited states 1s(2)2pnl of the C2+ ion
and those from the 1s(2)2pnl and 1s(2)3lnl' states of the Fe22+ ion a
re calculated with the use of Cowan's code. For large n, extrapolation
is adopted for A(r) and A(a). Furthermore, the dielectronic recombina
tion rate coefficient to the excited state 1s(2)2snl is obtained from
A(r) and A(a). It is found that the dielectronic recombination process
to the highly excited states dominates for the C2+ ion, whereas for t
he Fe22+ ion that to the low bound state dominates. (C) 1997 Elsevier
