Abstract
Synthesis and characterization of lanthanum(III), prasrodymium(III), neodym
ium(III), samarium(III), godolinium(III), terbium(III), and dysprosium(III)
chelates of the type of M{(RCOO)(3)} 2H(2)O where R=PhCOCH2CH2 and PhCOCH2
CHPh are described. The IR data show that the bonding of the carboxylate gr
oup to the metal ion is bidendate chelate mode. Coordination number of 6 In
d 9 is suggested for the rare earth ion in these two series respectively.
