[PtCl2(C3H5Me)(NN)] (where X = Cl, I; n = 3 or 4; NN = bis(1-pyrazolyl) met
hane, bis(3,5-dimethyl-1-pyrazolyl) methane, bis (2-pyridyl) methane and 2,
2 ' -bipyridyl) have been prepared and characterized by elemental analyses,
IR,H-1 and C-13 NMR spectroscopy. The compounds [PtCl2(C3H5Me(NN)] exist a
s mixtures of 2- and 3- methyl platinacyclobutane isomers. In solution thes
e compounds possess an octahedral geometry in which halo groups occupy the
axial positions.
