Abstract
A series of complexes of the general formula [Ru Hbbip X Cl](+), [Ru Hbbip (X)(2)](2+) and [(Ru Hbbip X)(2) pyz](3+); H(2)bbip = 2,6-bis-(2'-benzimida zyl) pyridine; pyz pyrazine and X = 2,2'-bipyridine/1,10-phenanthroline hav e been synthesized and characterized by their elemental analysis, spectral (IR,H-1 NMR, UV-visible and ESR) and redox data. Comparative luminescent be haviour of the complexes in the presence and absence of calf-thymus DNA has also been studied.
