Synthesis and characterization of some chromium(III) complexes with N,S,O-donor thiohydrazones

The preparation and characterization of some new chromium(III) complexes sy nthesized by the reactions of salicylaldehyde morpholine N-thiohydrazone (H (2)smth) and 2-hydroxyacetophenone morpholine N-thiohydrazone (H(2)apmth) w ith different chromium(III) salts, under varied reaction conditions are rep orted. The isolated solid chromium(III) complexes have been characterised b y elemental analyses, molar conductance, magnetic susceptibilities, molecul ar weights and spectroscopic (W-Vis and IR) data. It has been observed that the ligands H(2)smth and H(2)apmth can function either as a monobasic trid entate or dibasic tridentate (N,S,O-donor) fashion depending on the reactio n conditions.
