Heavy ion activation of natural europium oxide with 70 MeV B-11(5+) results
in the formation of carrier-free erbium isotopes,Er157-160, and their corr
esponding decay products,Ho158-160 and Dy-157 in, the matrix. Carrier-free
holmium and dysprosium isotopes have been separated from the bulk target ma
trix europium by employing di-(2-ethylhexyl)phosphoric acid (HDEHP) as a li
quid cation exchanger.
