Abstract
Mycoplasmas were isolated from multiple tissues of diseased American alliga tors (Alligator mississippiensis). This paper presents biochemical, serolog ical and molecular genetic characterizations of a lethal pathogen of alliga tors for which the name Mycoplasma alligatoris sp, nov. is proposed. The ty pe strain is A21JP2(T) (ATCC 700619(T)).
