Abstract
A laboratory investigation of the gas dynamics and studies using a water-el ectricity analogue were carried out to clarify the influences of scaffold f ormation and high coal powder injection on the distribution of gases and li quid slag in the blast furnace. A better understanding of the gas and liqui d flow patterns under these conditions was acquired. The applicability of t he water-electricity analogue approach to the investigation of liquid slag flow in the blast furnace was proven. (C) 2000 IoM Communications Ltd.
