The reaction of beta-cyclodextrin with N-2,3-epoxypropylphthalimide yi
elded a set of new amorphous host compounds with high solubility which
was transmitted to the corresponding host-guest complexes. The struct
ure was determined by comparing the H-1- and C-13-NMR spectra with tho
se of the parent compound, the degree of substitution by integration o
f the corresponding NMR signals, and C, H, and N elemental analysis.
