Abstract
We study the spherical Bessel functions of generic representations of a red uctive group over finite fields. We show that in the case of GL(2)(F-q2), t he relation between spherical Bessel functions and Bessel functions gives a nother characterization of the Shintani lifting. (C) 2001 Academic Press.
