Abstract
An effective hadronic Lagrangian including the charm mesons is introduced t o study their interactions in hadronic matter. Using coupling constants tha t are determined either empirically or using the SU(4) symmetry, we have ev aluated the absorption cross sections of J/psi and the scattering cross sec tions of D and D* by pi and rho mesons.
