Hw. Gao et al., Investigation of property of silver complex solution with p-iodobenzenediazoaminoazobenzene by spectral correction technique, J INDIAN CH, 78(1), 2001, pp. 9-12
Complexation between silver (Ag+) and p-iodobenzenediazoaminoazobenzene (p-
IBDA) has been investigated in alkaline solution. The surfactants, polyoxye
thylene alcohol (OP) and sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate (SDBS) have been
used because their micelles can improve the dissolution of the Ag-p-IBDA co
mplex and increase the reaction sensitivity. Its true (not apparent) molar
absorptivity is epsilon (480)(Ag(p-IBDA)) = 3.42 x 10(4) in OP solution and
epsilon (490)(Ag(p-IBDA)) = 2.59 x 10(4) dm(3) mol(-1) cm(-1) in SDBS solu
tion. The stability constants of the complex are 1.63 x 10(7) and 5.16 x 10
(4) in OP and SDBS solutions, respectively.
