The surface free energies along with the adsorption of some organic compoun
ds like formamide, acetonitrile, dimethyl formamide, acetone, 1,2-dichloroe
thane, 1,1-dichloroethane and normal chain alcohols (n = 1-5), assuming as
hard sphere fluids, at a planar wall have been calculated using a density f
unctional theory (DFT): The behavior of liquids at solid-liquid interface h
as bees discussed. The results differ from that of scale particle theory du
e to inhomogenity of the fluid near the surface.
