Abstract
An analytical solution to the equation governing the slowly varying envelop e of the third-harmonic pulse in a gas-filled hollow fiber is derived. The influence of phase-matching, group-delay, and attenuation effects is studie d. Optimal conditions for third-harmonic generation in leaky waveguide mode s of hollow fibers filled with various rare gases are determined for differ ent pulse durations of fundamental radiation.
