The vertebrates of the Maria Farinha Formation in the Paleocene of the Pern
ambuco-Paraiba Basin encompass seven families of fishes and two taxa of rep
tiles, collected in outcrops of Poty Quarry to the Paulista County, Pernamb
uco State. It is the first occurrence of some taxa in Brazil (Albulidae, Se
rranidae, and Dyrosauridae) and the first record of Myliobatis in this form
ation. The faunal change at the K-T Boundary in Brazil is discussed.
