Abstract
Despite widespread immunization against Bordetella pertussis, whooping coug h remains potentially fatal in susceptible populations such as neonates, A case of neonatal pertussis with severe pulmonary hypertension (PH) requirin g extracorporal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) is described, PH associated wit h pertussis severe enough to require ECMO is frequently irreversible and as sociated with a poor prognosis.
