Abstract
Diffusion studies of (Bi,Pb)(2)Sr2Ca2Cu3O10 and Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8 tapes wrapped in Ag show that Cu of the ceramics diffuses into the Ag sheath during anne aling that results in a decrease of the Cu content of the ceramics. The dif fusion coefficient has been determined to range between about 1.4 x 10(-11) and 2.9 x 10(-11) cm(2) s(-1) at temperatures between 790 degreesC and 860 degreesC. A diffusion of Bi, Pb, Sr, and Ca into Ag has not been observed. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
