Abstract
While for intercalation compounds of natural smectites 2D long range order of the interlamellar space was never observed, in-plane order can be detect ed using a homogeneously charged synthetic fluorohectorite as host material . With these intercalates distinct 2D structures for enantiopure and racemi c [Ru(bpy)(3)](2+)-interlayers, as previously predicted by atomistic simula tions, can now be proven experimentally.
