S. Dhamija et al., Analysis of hadron-nucleus interactions in the framework of two multistring models - art. no. 035201, PHYS REV C, 6303(3), 2001, pp. 5201
Two multistring models implemented through the Monte Carlo codes FRITIOF an
d VENUS are used to analyze the data from proton-emulsion interactions at h
igh energies. Both models are based on the concept of classical strings. Ho
wever, the first model uses longitudinal excitation as a means of string fo
rmation, the subsequent string fragmentation following the Lund fragmentati
on scheme. The second model VENUS uses the color exchange or string flip me
chanism for string formation and the string fragments into observable hadro
ns using an iterative fragmentation cascade. The analysis gives an interest
ing comparison between the data and predictions from the two models.
