A new transition is reported in the beta -delayed neutron decay of C-16. Th
e energy of the associated neutrons is 3.29 +/- 0.03 MeV, leading, to the f
eeding, with a branching ratio of similar to 1%, of a probable 1(+) level i
n N-16 at 6.00 +/- 0.03 MeV. Such an observation is in good accordance with
shell model calculations carried out within the Op1 s0d model space.
