Abstract
The surgical treatment of malignant renal tumours in children (nephroblasto mas) is part of a multimodal therapeutic strategy, defined by the Internati onal Society of Paediatric Oncology protocol. Resection of the primary tumo ur and determination of the postoperative stage determine subsequent treatm ent. The modalities of the surgical procedure are described together with t he particular casts concerning infants under the age of 6 months, extension to the renal vein and inferior vena cava. emergency surgery, bilateral rum ours or tumour in a solitary kidney, lymph node involvement, metastatic nep hroblastomas and complications of surgery.
