Abstract
7-exo-Amino substituted endo-(1) and exo-benzocyclobuteno-norbornane (2) we re synthesised from corresponding isothiocyanates. Nitrous acid deamination of 1 proceeded mainly with skeletal rearrangement whereas the same reactio n of 2 gave derivatives with retention of configuration.
