A. Ion et al., Direct electrochemical response of bovine cytochrome c. 1 - Purification and purity effect on the electrochemical reaction, REV RO CHIM, 45(4), 2000, pp. 351-355
The direct electrochemical response of bovine heart cytochrome c was invest
igated oil modified gold electrodes to establish the effect of the non-nati
ve cytochrome c impurities on the voltammetric signal involving the haemic
centre. Following the experimental results, it appears that the purificatio
n of the protein is essential to achieve the direct electrochemistry of the
metalloprotein. No remarkable differences between horse and bovine electro
chemical activity were noticed using gold electrode modified with 4,4'-dipy
ridyl disulfide. The calculated half-wave potential for the redox couple Fe
(II)/Fe(III) front bovine cytochrome c was +262 mV vs. NHE.
