Abstract
The heterocyclization of allyl substituted chloromethyloxiranes with anhydr ous gaseous HCl at room temperature gives 2-chloroalkyl-3-chloro-5,5-dialky ltetrahydrofurans, which are important building units for the synthesis of biologically active compounds.
