Abstract
The experimental dependences of the rate constants and emission frequencies of exciplexes on medium polarity were analyzed. The dependence of the ener gy of a dipole on medium permittivity was better described by the equation for the Lorentzian internal field than by the extensively used Kirkwood-Ons ager equation. A similar result was obtained for the experimental dependenc es of electronic transition frequencies in molecules on medium permittivity .
