Abstract
Aaptamines are marine alkaloids with a unique 1H-benzo[d,e][1,6]naphthyridi ne structure and interesting biological properties. Bisdemethylaaptamine an d bisdemethyloxyaaptamine were synthesized in four steps on a Bischler-Napi eralski route including an oxidative formation of the crucial C-9a-N-1-bond . This synthetic approach may serve as a model for an oxidative Pictet-Spen gler biosynthesis of the aaptamines. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rig hts reserved.
