This communication describes a general method for the solid-phase synthesis
of oligomeric esters. A JandaJel(TM) resin was utilized as the solid suppo
rt in conjunction with the highly acid labile Rink linker. Ester coupling r
eactions were performed using buffered reagents and the monomer was protect
ed as its allyl ester. In this manner, ester coupling and deprotection coul
d be performed under essentially neutral conditions, giving rise to product
s in both excellent yields and purity. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd. All r
