Isolation and examination of diterpene hydrocarbons produced by the fungus
Phoma betae allowed us to determine the structures of eight compounds. Anal
ysis by capillary GC with a cyclodextrin derived chiral stationary phase al
lowed us to determine the absolute configuration of the diterpenes. The occ
urrence of aphidicolenes, stemar-13-ene, pimara- and isopimaradienes demons
trates the diversity of diterpenes found in this fungus. (C) 2001 Elsevier
