Abstract
Bowel is used in multiple, challenging urologic procedures. Historically, t hese procedures were performed by a large midline incision; however, many p rocedures, including a continent urinary stoma, antegrade continence enema, ileal loop urinary diversion, and bladder augmentation have been successfu lly completed using laparoscopic assistance and pure laparoscopy. Minimally invasive techniques allow for improved convalescence and cosmesis compared with open surgical procedures. Recent accomplishments in the use of bowel in laparoscopic urology are reviewed.
