Abstract
The field of a femtosecond pulse immediately al the output of a lens i s calculated, and pulse broadening caused by the dispersive spread in the lens material is estimated. The method of stationary phase is used to calculate the field of a femtosecond pulse with an arbitrary time profile al the focal point of a lens.
