The Diceroprocta delicata species complex is currently composed of D. delic
ata (Osborn, 1906) and D. delicata variety aurantiaca Davis, 1938. We descr
ibed the species distribution, made morphological measurements of nine stru
ctural characters, analyzed the calling songs, and determined the thermal r
esponses for each species. Our collections and analyses show that there are
significant differences in the biogeography, morphology, and acoustics, wh
ich suggest a reorganization of the complex. We suggest that there are in f
act two separate species and that the current variety he elevated to specie
s rank with the name Diceroprocta aurantiaca Davis, 1938.
