Abstract
The excitation emission matrix spectral subtraction (EFMSS) fluorescence te chnique was used to estimate adulteration of petrol by kerosene. A calibrat ion graph obtained from the spectral volume with the use of EEMSS fluoresce nce is found to be efficacious in the whole range 0 to 90% v/v of kerosene. The method is simple, reliable, and superior in terms of both sensitivity (1% v/v) and accuracy compared to any other method. The method gives a good recovery for synthesized adulterated sample.
