Z. Serber et al., Carbon-detected NMR experiments to investigate structure and dynamics of biological macromolecules, CHEMBIOCHEM, 2(4), 2001, pp. 247-251
We have started to develop new NMR pulse sequences that detect carbon magne
tization during the acquisition period. These experiments have become possi
ble with the recent introduction of cryogenic probe heads. We show that a c
areful design of these carbon-detected experiments can at least partially c
ompensate for the inherent lower sensitivity of carbon detection compared t
o proton detection. We discuss potential applications of carbon defection a
nd demonstrate a deconvolution technique that removes the effects of carbon
- carbon couplings from the spectra.
