Ak. Ghosh et al., LIPOSOMAL ANISOTROPY - A SIGNAL FOR LIPID-DRUG INTERACTION AT THE INTERFACE, Journal of the Indian Chemical Society, 74(6), 1997, pp. 464-466
Using liposomal membranes of different lipids like egg lecithin, sphin
gomyelin and dipalmitoyl phosphatidylcholine, we have studied the effe
ct of the hydrophilic drugs chloroquine sulphate, nicotinic acid etc.
on the membrane anisotropy; which is an index of the membrane microvis
cosity. The observed effect is presumably through the charge-charge in
teraction between tile lipid head group and the hydrophilic drugs at t
he lipid water interface.
