Abstract
Photosensitivity in a perfluoropolymer (CYTOP) optical fibre is investigate d. Significant diffraction has been observed from transmission gratings mad e front the fibre. A maximum diffraction efficiency of 1.6% has been achiev ed, corresponding to an index change similar or equal to 3 x 10(4). This st udy demonstrates for the first time the existence: of significant photosens itivity and the feasibility of writing Bragg grating in CYTOP fibres.
